Every country has a history of literary censorship and restricting authors’ rights, and our museum shines a light on those histories by collecting books from around the world and communicating the story of what happened to them. The museum is open to the public four days a week, and hosts student tours, private events, and our monthly online Banned Books Club. We love sharing our collection and finding ways to educate people about the history of censorship, including through our podcast series, virtual museum, and our travelling exhibition. We believe that now, more than ever, it is essential to equip the public with the skills to identify censorship, misinformation, and propaganda, and that is why we’re dedicated to telling these stories, remembering history, and standing up for authors’ and journalists’ rights.
