Karin is the Co-Director of kood/Jõhvi which is an innovative coding school open for everyone. She has been working in the startup ecosystem for almost 8 years and has seen it from the investor side during her time at the Estonian Business Angels Network as well as from the startup side during her time at the European Innovation Academy.
kood/Jõhvi doesn't have any classes, teachers or tuition fee. It focuses 100% on teaching programming through a self-learning methodology and educates (junior) full-stack developers with 2 years of experience. If you are 18 years old and 9 grade education, then you can apply. The 200 spots in the school got 3300 applications. The school is an NGO with unique collaboration of the private and public sector with funding from both. It was founded by 8 well known and successful Estonian entrepreneurs (two are founders of unicorns) as they saw a need in the market and wanted to develop Estonian education landscape.
